Unrelated Solos at BAC in May

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) is presenting Mikhail Baryshnikov, David Neumann, and Steve Paxton in Unrelated Solos, as part of May Nights in the Jerome Robbins Theater.

This extraordinary program features three solos performed by Mikhail Baryshnikov, including two New York premieres – Years Later (2006, rev. 2009), choreographed by Benjamin Millepied, set to music by Philip Glass; and Valse Fantasie (2009), choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky, set to music by Mikhail Glinka; as well as a work in progress by Susan Marshall. The program also includes the world premiere of a solo by Steve Paxton; and two works created and performed by David Neumann – Dose (1997) with music by Tom Waits, and tough, the tough (redux), with text by Will Eno, and sound design by Hal Hartley, Jane Shaw, DJ Mendel, and Neumann.

Performances are May 19–22 (Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm). Performances will take place in the new Jerome Robbins Theater at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, 450 West 37th Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues) in New York City.

Unrelated Solos is part of Baryshnikov Arts Center’s May Nights in the Jerome Robbins Theater (May 4–26, 2010), a month of dance, theater, music, and film presented in the new Jerome Robbins Theater. Other May Nights events include: the U.S. premiere of Gaff Aff by Swiss duo Zimmermann & de Perrot (May 4–8); Necessary Weather, a collaboration by Dana Reitz, Jennifer Tipton and Sara Rudner (May 13–15); Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, performed by Orchestra of St. Luke’s, soprano Joélle Harvey, and mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson (May 24–25); and a screening of NY Export: Opus Jazz, a new film based on Jerome Robbins’s original 1958 work (May 26).

Tickets are $25 for performances, and $15 for the film screening. A special five-show discount pass (one ticket to all five presentations) is available for $85. Five-show passes are available now.
